FAQs

What happens if you throw a disc too fast? ›

If you throw too slowly, you're going to have it fade, if you throw too quickly you'll see it turn. It's not always a bad thing to throw your disc faster than intended. Putters are excellent to throw too fast. These discs will turn over and hold that turn for a long time.

How many acres do you need for a disc golf course? ›

A simple 9-hole course can be built on as little as 2 acres for around $3000. Championship caliber courses typically require 1 to 2 acres per hole. Disc golf courses can be installed in phases and upgraded over time.

Can you run up on your second throw in disc golf? ›

After all players have teed off, the player whose disc is farthest from the hole always throws first. Fairway throws must be made from directly behind the lie. A run-up and normal follow-through, after release, is allowed, unless the lie is within 10 meters of the target.

Do I need to be strong to play disc golf? ›

Discs can leave a player's hand at over 80 mph! This requires a great deal of coordination and stabilization strength among the spine, the arms, and the hips.

How fast should you pull a disc? ›

For example, operating a disc too fast or too slow prevents it from penetrating the soil at the correct depth. The disc won't be able to effectively break up and toss the soil, which leads to shallow cuts. In most conditions, the optimal operating speed is approximately 4–6 miles per hour.

What is it called if you hold the disc longer than 10 seconds? ›

A stalling violation occurs when the player guarding the thrower calls "stalling" and counts out 10 seconds. If the disc has not been released at the end of the count, it is turned over to the defense at that point.

Can a disc golf course be profitable? ›

Benefits of Disc Golf Development. Disc golf courses are inexpensive to install and the game is affordable to play. Courses attract new people to park systems and support local businesses. Disc golf offers one of the highest returns on investment activities to a park and recreation facility.

How many feet is a par 3 in disc golf? ›

Therefore, for Gold level holes the maximum effective length for a par 3 is a 400 ft. drive plus a 100 ft. close range shot, for a total of 500 ft.

How many feet is the average disc golf course? ›

Typical 18-hole course setups for amateur White level players range from 4500-6000 feet (1350-1800m). Course setups longer than 6000 feet (1800m) ranging up to 10,000 feet or more are primarily for better players at the Blue or Gold level and for tournament play.

What is a legal putt in disc golf? ›

How do you know if a disc is ruined? ›

Excessively Deep Scratches & Gouges
